Fair, high-quality and sustainably produced: The German label Studio 163 offers timeless basics made from the finest Mongolian cashmere fibres, which you want to wear for a lifetime - and which last just as long.

Starting your own business was one of the best decisions in Barbara Giandomenico's life. Together with her husband Alexander she runs a small agency for graphic design in Munich - successful and happy. But: "Even when designing on paper, I had a preference for fashion," explains Barbara. In 2016, the couple therefore ventured into their second self-employment and founded Studio 163.

The brand focuses on cashmere in highest quality. In Mongolia, the fibres are extracted from the soft undercoat of the cashmere goat. It is then dyed sustainably. The high-quality material ensures that Studio 163's creations last forever and feel like a loving hug on your skin.

Cosy basics with perfect cuts

The label's collections mainly feature basics that shouldn't be missing in any wardrobe and that never go out of fashion. At the same time the timeless creations are never boring: you notice the design background of the founders in every single piece. Whether it's a tight-fitting rib-knit sweater or a casual oversized cardigan - the cuts are selected perfectly. In addition to high-quality classics, Studio163 offers some more fancy eye-catchers with graphic patterns, tassels and in Norwegian style.

"We do everything ourselves, from the design to the special features of the cuts and colors to the distribution and the shop. And of course we meet our lovely producer from Mongolia in person once a year to reassure the quality and introduce the new ideas," says the founder. In Ulaanbaatar, 15 women in a knitting workshop under female management produce the cashmere styles for Studio 163 in small quantities. The working conditions there are excellent: The workers are not only paid fairly. They are also allowed to take maternity leave, work part-time and receive further training - this is not a standard in Asian production countries. This way you can cuddle up with a clear conscience to Studio 163's awesome styles!
