When choosing accommodation, more and more people are paying attention to what sustainable criteria the houses, in which they spend their holidays, fulfill. More and more care is being taken to ensure environmental sustainability and social commitment, and above all to ensure that hotels use nature's resources with the greatest possible care. We present eight exceptional hotels built from recycled or natural materials - from Egypt to Valais. This week’s favorite:

    MUKUL, NICARAGUA

Green glamour in Central America: the most beautiful resort in Nicaragua is located between the jungle and the Pacific: Mukul, part of the "Auberge Resorts Collection" is a true paradise. Endless fine sandy beaches, a world-class spa, you will stay in one of the luxurious 23 bohios (suites in the hills) or the 12 chic-designed beach villas.

Interior designer Paul Duesing worked with Nicaraguan craftsmen to create furniture and works of art that reflect the country's traditions: Carved teak tables, beds in used Flor de Caña rum barrels, clay ceramic lamp bases from nearby Masaya volcano. Great importance is placed on the use of local materials in the construction of Mukul, and to the lowest possible environmental impact. The owners replanted more than 1,500 trees instead of felling them. The resort also has its own farm where fruit and vegetables are organically grown.
