• STYLE SECRETS OF JASMIN KHEZRI

Jasmin Khezri in Casa Nata Kleid

Jasmin Khezri is a German-Persian art director, illustrator and fashion journalist. Raised in Germany, England and France, Jasmin studied at the renowned Parsons School of Design in Paris and Los Angeles and worked as an art director for magazines such as Jetzt-Magazin and Marie Claire. She became known through the figure Irma, which she illustrated.

“When I had the idea of creating that iconic illustrated character, I did not have to think twice: IRMA will be her name. My grandmother, Irma, was an inspirational force in my life. She was a muse to her husband, the sculptor Carl Vilz and worked a great part of her life successfully as fashion buying director."

    1. WE LOVE YOUR STYLE, WHAT'S YOUR SECRET?
It's very simple: I never give myself much time when I get dressed in the morning. It always gives my look something less than perfect. Everything has to be quick and it's all instinct. If I take a lot of time, my outfits don't turn out so well. They lose their authenticity and it looks too eager.

    2. WHEN STYLING, WHICH THREE POINTS ARE ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT TO YOU?
I always choose a favorite piece for the day. This could be a bag, a pair of shoes, a dress or a coat. Everything else to go with it comes naturally.
Colours are very important to me. They underline my mood and shape my styling. There are days when I prefer to stay in one colour family, only in different shades. This always looks good and is put together super fast - e.g. everything in different shades of red for a very present outfit or everything in white or black.
I never wear full looks or everything just from one season.
A vintage item must always be included. But only vintage is too much for me. The contrast between old and new is exciting.

    3. FOR US YOU ARE THE VINTAGE QUEEN! WHERE DO YOU FIND THE CLOTHES, WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR WHEN YOU BUY THEM AND DO YOU SEARCH SPECIFICALLY FOR LABELS OR SPECIAL DESIGN?
I prefer to buy through my mother's friends. They have real treasures in their wardrobes, and they are happy when I relieve them. Apart from that, I always have an eye everywhere - in Munich at "Vintage Love", in Paris at "V.I.P.", in Milan at "Cavalli e Nastri".
When I go shopping for vintage, I pay special attention to the smell. If a part smells musty, I don't buy it, no matter how beautiful it is. And I hold everything against the light, so you can easily see if it is moth-free.
Depending on the designer I buy different things: silk blouses from Saint Laurent, costume jewelry from Chanel and coats or jackets from Celine. Always concentrating on what the labels are particularly good at.
With evening dresses I like to go further into the past. My favourite are dresses from the 30s, when Glamour and Sparkle were still big. Often you can find real couture treasures in the stocks of theatres.

    4. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT CASA NATA?
The precisely plain design, the way it is made, the materials and that it is a product that is completely designed and manufactured in Germany.
